Condolence: I have such fond memories of that ski trip to Finland with Larry as my coach and mentor... and then again at a 5 peaks trail race with my son more than 20 years later. He was a wonderful coach and a great listener.

My condolences and prayers go out to the Sinclair family.

Condolence: In 1977 I walked into Larrys room at the U of G International House and said I was joining the Guelph team, oh and "could I borrow some poles and rollerskiis" he said "great to have you on board and ya ya sure to the rollerskiis". Only a matter of a few weeks ago after Christmas I walked into Duntroon as I do constantly being a devoted member , and as usual Larry was lingering near the skiis and I asked if I could borrow some no wax skiis because I am old and lazy, a Larry grin like always and then "ya sure to the skiis". Such was the essence of my 38 yrs knowing the generous, ever congenial Larry , my deepest sympathy to all of the family.

Condolence: Sincere condolences to the family ,friends and the entire cross country ski community. Larry was a kind and good man. Seven years ago he was there for me when my husband "Heinz" died on the ski trails. Larry drove to the hospital and I will never forget him. My children and I are so sad and in shock with Larry's passing.. We have lost a great individual.

Condolence: You had a long fight with a miserable disease. You will be missed by the Duntroon community. Whether it was tobogganing down the hills @ Highlands Nordic with the church kids; watching the Special Olympics; or attending the Haunted House on Halloween; you and your family had a big impact on our community. Rest in peace Larry.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear the news. I will miss seeing Larry the next time I am at Highlands Nordic, but I will always look forward to skiing on his trails and staying in the farm house!

I experienced many firsts with Larry. He was a huge influence in my early coaching life. He was the first coach I worked with as a coach. I went on my first ski camp/road trip with him in 1982 to Quebec City, with a young Al Pilcher and Darren Derochie. I learned how to follow his pick up truck (“3 on the tree”) at normal speeds on highway 400/11 in search of early snow, but at a much higher rate of speed on back country roads (which was more his style). He taught me how best to order a smoked meat sandwich at the Jolly Roger Pub by the old SOD office in Toronto; how to work the Fischer ski cage selecting skis for all the Fischer sponsored skiers in Canada; how to drink Tim Horton’s coffee on Bayfield Street in Barrie; how to cover a klister ski with hardwax; and, that giving splits is not as easy as it looks! My first Nationals were with Larry in the “Soo” in 1983. I will always remember that night in 1991 at the National’s in Vancouver when Larry’s waxing earned Jack Cook a Silver medal. Along the life journey with Larry I also learned a little about other things, too, like tractor parts. He provided so much to me as a coach and was always supportive and encouraging. My list of “Larry” memories is endless! His ongoing contribution to the greater cross country skiing community will be missed, but I know his enduring and significant legacy will ensure he will always be remembered.
