Dear Sylvia and family. It is with great sadness that I recently heard of Cliffs passing. As you know Cliff and I became great friends through our mutual love of choldren by way of the Childrens Wish Foundation. We later learned that we also had a interest in music,and played together on numerous occasions. I recall our first event together which was a golf tournament, jointly run by the Childrens Wish foundation and our O.P.P. Auxiliary Unit. This was a major sucess and became an annual event for a few years to follow. I believe we together raised approximately 10,000 dollars. Later Cliff became an unofficial member of our unit and guided our unit to several succesful annual inspections thanks to his expertise learned throughout his military carrer.My best memory of Cliff is when we presented him with an O.P.P. winter jacket as a thankyou for all his volunteer contributions. I am not sure who was prouder, he or I. I also recall a trip to Sudbury where all the units in Ontario celebrated together with a mass inspection. Because the Command knew our unit was the best trained in drill we were given the honour of leading off the entire parade. This was largely due to the quiet behind the scenes work of Cliff Vandale. When I first met Cliff I was expecting a vocal outfront type of person. Instead I discovered a very quiet unassuming man who could move mountains. I came to like and respect Cliff more and more. In addition my wife Rhonda and I became friends with you and Deryk. It was a sad day when you moved from Kingston for sure. Sylvia I hope that you and your family are well.
