Memories of my uncle

My Uncle Lloyd...my dear mother's brother

Now, at this time of is passing, my memories of him are running rampant through my mind.

Like spending favorite summers at age 5-6 and maybe even 7 with my uncle and aunt at the farm in Stayner. I can still see him returning home from the fields so tired, hot and dusty from a hard days work

from behind his horses and plow.

And then off  he went to the barn for nightly chores before coming in for supper.

He taught me how to scrape the manure from my boots before entering the house after being in the barn.

I had such good times those summers with him and my aunt.

Then there was harvest time, threshing the fruits of the field with friends from surrounding farms.

I loved those scumptious and bountiful meals my aunt prepared and we ate together outside with the workers.

My uncle was always busy. His laugh was infectious.

I am left with a hole in my soul at his passing.

My uncles generosity sits firmly in my mind. Always, when visiting with my wife and children in later years, he reached in his pocket before we left and insisted we take some of his hard earned  dollars...just in case we needed some money on the way home..

Goodbye Uncle Lloyd
