Obituary for Stanley Oliver "Stan" Nixon

NIXON, Stanley Oliver
Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in his 95th year at the Stayner Care Centre. Stan of Stayner, beloved husband of Dahlia Zane Dewar for 71 years. Loving father of Nancy (Bob), Paul (Sadie), Lori (Peter) and John (Linda). Proud grandfather of Sean, Travis, Joshua, Brandon, Nicole, Brennan, Damion and Gabriella and four great-grandchildren.

Stanley was born in Creemore, Ontario and moved to Stayner when he and Dale married. He owned and operated Stan Nixon Motors for many years. He loved to walk, and would walk home each day for lunch. He was a Second World War veteran, a Shriner, and a Masonic Hall member who never missed a meeting. He bought a cottage at Brocks Beach in the early 1960’s that provided years of happiness for his family and friends. He was a founding member of the Stayner Granite Club where he curled every winter.

Special thanks to Dr. Recoskie and the staff of Stayner Care Centre and Blue Mountain Manor. Friends will be received at Centennial United Church, 234 William Street, Stayner on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. until the Service of Remembrance at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements under the direction of Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel.
