Thompson, Stanley Adison

March 15, 1929 – March 18, 2020

Stan died peacefully on Wednesday March 18, 2020 in Wasaga Beach.
Stan was a life professional of the Canadian Professional Golfers Association. Stan was an exceptional golf instructor and he will be remembered by many students and the members of Bolton, Glen Eagle and Marlwood golf courses. Stan leaves behind his son Paul (Kathy) and daughters Darla (Frank Lofranco) and Cathy (Jamie Durnin). He is predeceased by his wife Vivian Seed. Stan spent the last five years living at the Wasaga Beach Seniors Residence (WBSR). We were very fortunate to have our dad cared for by the Srey family (owners of WBSR) and their amazing staff. Dad was always treated like family. He wasn’t the easiest client for the visiting PSWs and nurses but they always treated him with respect. Special thanks to my Dad’s friend Sarak and his special PSW, Anne Marie from Saint Elizabeth’s. Thank you to all for taking such good care of our dad. Cremation has taken place. There will not be any additional services to honour Stan’s wishes. If desired, a donation to The Kidney Foundation or to your local humane society would be appreciated by Stan’s family. Arrangements under the direction of the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home.

My condolences to all of Stan’s family. I got to know Stan in the 1980’s when I was an assistant pro working at The National. Stan was teaching at the Pleasure Park driving range, at the NE corner of highways 400 & 7. Many will remember the sight of the red and white double decker range tee. Stan and I partnered for several seasons as a team in the Senior Pro - Junior Pro tournament. Stan would pick me up in his big car and we would have a great day together along with our fellow PGA professionals.

Paul and Stan's family, our most sincere condolences on Stan's passing
He was always a welcome site to the Men's League at Marlwood and had provided so many of the members with lessons and passed on his wealth of knowledge of the game to so many members.
Always a gentleman and always willing to talk golf with any and all members in the clubhouse
He will certainly be missed by so many at Marlwood.
Again our condolences
Mike Lalonde for Marlwood Men's League

We would like to express our sincere condolences on the loss of your dad and our uncle. He and your mom will always be dear to us. We are grateful to your family for all the hospitality, support and kindness shown to us in our formative years. To show her appreciation, our mom named one child Stanley while another has Stanley as a middle name. As her children, we would like you to know we also greatly value the vital contribution of our aunt Anna May. Wishing you peace and comfort.

Love from your cousins: Michael, Rosalie, Steve, Kevin, Poppy, Ray and Stanley

Sincere condolences to all of Stan's family, friends and staff and residents of Wasaga Seniors during this sad time. While I never knew Stan for very long, I was grateful to get to know him at all... His dry sense of humour left a lasting impression on me and even recalling it now makes me smile!
Big hugs to my friend, Cathy - you're an amazing example of what a daughter should be... You made your Dad so proud every single day. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Annie x
