Obituary for Maurice Alfred Loton

Loton; Maurice Alfred. Lovingly referred to as “Mo”
Died peacefully surrounded by loved ones by his side on Friday, November 29,2019, at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 81. Maurice of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Beatrice Loton (née Crotenko) for over 26 years. Loving father of Troy Loton and step-father of Linda (David) Brown,Elizabeth Cox, Michael (Sheryl) Cox and Jamie (Julia) Cox. Cherished grandfather of Melissa Heffernan, Elizabeth (Patrick) Daniels, Sarah (Stephen) Watson, Amanda and Zenon Cox, Amelie and Alex Cox. Proud great-grandfather of Hannah Green, Lucas and Owen Daniels, Adalyn Watson and Aspen Heffernan. Maurice had a long and distinguished career as a lawyer for over 50 years. He loved a good cause to fight for, often taking cases for pro bono. Maurice was revered in the Wasaga Beach community for his knowledge and his community involvement, including acting as past president of the Chamber of Commerce. In his early years Maurice was active in the Royal Canadian Navy on a ship named Haida., Many years later this ship is now docked on Pier 9, Hamilton and is used as an educational museum. In his later years he enjoyed golfing, cooking and spending time with his family. He will never be forgotten by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life will be held in the New Year. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask to make out a donation to the Alzheimer Society or Anglican Church of the Prince of the Peace, Wasaga Beach in Maurice’s name.
