Obituary for Lorna Jean Macdonald (Munroe)

Macdonald, Lorna Jean (nee Munroe)

On Thursday March 25, 2021 a wonderful woman passed away. Lorna Jean Munroe Macdonald. Lorna lived her life with grace and kindness, dedicated to her family, her friends and the United Church.
Cherished wife of Stanley, mother to Brock, Megan, Duncan and daughter- in- law Louise, and a very special grandma to Hunter, Lucy and LeaRose. Born in Perth Ontario, she enjoyed years at the Otty Lake family cottage, with her best friend Lucille and her sisters, Dorothy and Evelyn. Lorna remained close with her high school friends and celebrated over 70 years together! Lorna loved her career as a kindergarten teacher in Etobicoke and taught at Sir Adam Beck and Parkfield Public School. The teacher friends from both schools were dear to her. St James Islington United Church was a very important part of our parents life and they dedicated themselves to their faith and belief in fairness, equality and charity.
Lorna retired over 30 years ago, and spent many happy years travelling and pursing her interests in Canadian antique glass, book club and playing bridge. In recent years, Stanley and Lorna have been living in Collingwood to be close to family and enjoying life at Balmoral Place.
Lorna was a woman who took time for kindness, wrote many many letters of gratitude and was respected by all who knew her. Our family will miss her beautiful blue eyes, her easy smile and her kind heart.
Daughter to Tena and Bob Munroe, sister to Jack Munroe (RCAF pilot WWII), sister to Dorothy (Don) Glen and Evelyn Munro, and married for 61 years to Stanley Macdonald.
Morning by morning new mercies I see... all I have needed Thy hand hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness Lord unto me.

Her wishes were that if anyone would like to make a donation, that they consider Sleeping Children Around the World and the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
