Obituary for Leo Janelle Burger

Leo Burger died surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. Mourning his loss is his loving wife of 47 years Pat Burger (Ranger); favourite daughter Cher Burger of Wasaga Beach and super funny daughter Chrystal Burger of Timmins. He will be deeply missed by his two grandsons Myles and Sawyer Smith of Timmins. He also leaves behind his siblings: Eloise Morris (late George) of Timmins, John Burger (Cathy) of Sudbury and Lester Burger of Calgary, sister-in-law Fran Rentelis (llate Albert) of Timmins and brother-in-law James Ranger (Gayle) of Montreal. Grieving his passing are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved dearly. Leo will be missed by cherished friends Brian and Gisele Donovan, Mike and Fran David and Denis and Louise Saudino as well as many other lifelong friends. Drink the wine! His furry friends Tuxedo, Gunther and Tigger will miss his chats and belly rubs. Predeceased by his parents John and Beatrice Burger, sister Lenore Burger and in-laws Frank and Hilda Ranger. Leo was fully committed to all things in his life: family, friends, work and community. Nothing was ever half done! Myles and Sawyer were great helpers to their Papa and will miss playing hide ‘n seek, building and completing projects with him in the basement. Leo was a faithful parishioner of St. Noel Chabanel Church and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus (St. Andre Bessette Council #15162). He was also passionate about the importance of giving blood; Leo donated over 100 times in his lifetime. Dad loved the beach, camping, golfing, sharing laughs with family and friends and making room for sweets. Be like Leo, laugh till you cry, eat dessert and give blood! His kind and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. All are welcome to attend the church service being held at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, 86 Crawford St., South Porcupine on Monday, April 8th at 11am. Please join us afterwards at the Schumacher Lions Club (below the McIntyre Arena) from 1pm to 4pm to share a few laughs and memories in Leo’s honour. Arrangements entrusted to Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital and to Dr. Singh and his staff for their amazing care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Society of St. Vincent de Paul would be appreciated.
