Died peacefully following a brief illness on Monday December 12, 2022 at Campbell House, Collingwood at the age of 79. Julia of Stayner, beloved wife of the late Robert “Bud” Matson. Loving mother of Mary and her husband Mark Pelkey. Cherished Grandma of Curtis, Caitlin and Dana. Dear sister of John Scoles and his family. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, by her friends and her neighbours. Julia was a kind, outgoing woman who enjoyed life. She loved to shop and enjoyed her shopping trips with Mary and her friends to Toronto. A wonderful baker, her home was always inviting and smelled wonderful, particularly during the Christmas season. She will be fondly remembered. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home -Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Wednesday December 28, 2022 from 10 a.m. for the Funeral Mass to be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 215 Pine Street, Stayner at 11 o’clock. Interment Morningside Cemetery, Palgrave. If desired, donations to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House or the Collingwood General &Marine Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by Mary’s family.
