Hanna, James Chester (Jim)

Died peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home on Saturday April 2, 2022 at the age of 85. Jim of Stayner, beloved husband of Anne (nee Prosser). Loving father of Kim (Harry Hodgins) and John (April). Cherished grandfather of Jody Hodgins (Jim McMaster), Jessie Hodgins (Glenn Richards), Jamie Hanna (Erin Plummer) and William Hanna. Great grandfather of Eve Richards, Bowen Hanna and Ivy Hanna. Dear brother of Eric and predeceased by brothers Dr. Ed (Helen), Enos (Helen) and Doug (Marjorie). Also predeceased by his parents Dr. J. Edward and Melissa (nee Hunter) Hanna. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews Susan Hanna, Debbie Hanna, Sharon Ainley and Paul Hanna and their families. Following the sudden death of his brother Doug, Jim partnered with Ed Hanna and Lyle Dickey in 1960 to take over Hanna Motors the Ford dealership in Collingwood and Stayner for the next 38 years and remained in a leadership role until just recently. He had a strong work ethic and was dedicated to Hanna Motors and it’s employees. Jim forged many friendships with the long time customers and the community as a whole. He enjoyed talking and sharing stories with anyone he encountered. His passion was being outdoors, fishing, hockey and baseball which he shared with all his family and friends. Jim was always excited about his fishing trips to Grassy Lake especially when he had grandchildren. He loved his family and the times they spent together. He will be deeply missed. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Thursday April 7, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A private service will be held at a later date. If desired, in lieu of flowers a donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation for Prostate Cancer Research or the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
