Hilda (Hiltje) Lowe (Tendam) September 14, 1948
Hilda Lowe (nee Tendam) of Wasaga Beach passed away peacefully on Sunday August 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her son Thomas Lowe (Tammy), daughter Christine Bintakies (Geoff), Grandchildren Alicia, Rachel, Sheldon, Terina Lowe and James Gauthier. She is predeceased by her late husband Eric Lowe, her parents Vera and Bill Tendam and father Sybren Doorenspleet.
Hilda will be missed by her brothers and sisters Willard (Elly) Tendam; Sharon Tendam, Gary (Brenda) Tendam, Rosa (Stephen) Hulme, Sonya (David) Bell, Annette (Richard) Hoogendoorn, Allen (Yvonne) Doorenspleet, Stan (Elizabeth) Doorenspleet, also she will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Hilda was born in Workum, Friesland, the Netherlands, she arrived to Canada with her parents and brother Willard on December 18 1952 on the Dutch Liner “Maasdam”. They settled in Newcastle, Ontario where they made a home, and her family grew.
Hilda married Eric Lowe in 1968 raising their two children in Wasaga Beach. Hilda was a friendly and familiar face as the proud deli hostess in the downtown Collingwood IGA/Price Chopper/Freshco until she retired in 2013.
Hilda was the backbone and matriarch to her family; she was always there for her children and grandchildren when needed.
Hilda was a strong woman who fought a long and courageous battle with cancer for the past eight years.
Hilda will be cremated, and the family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make donations to a charity of your choice or a local church.
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. Rest in Peace Mom (Hilda), you will forever be in our hearts.
