Obituary for Grace Evelyn Childs (Elliott)
Grace Childs (nee Elliott)
Passed peacefully in her 91st year on Monday April 11, 2022 at Campbell House, Collingwood ON. She was born January 2nd 1931 in Hudson’s Bay, Saskatchewan to parents Robert Cecil and Ruth Clara Elliott.
Grace was a kind, caring and thoughtful lady. She enjoyed helping others. She was talented at quilting, sewing, knitting and baking. Her hand-made blankets and hats were distributed to various charities through Faith Missionary Church in Wasaga Beach. She loved traveling, socializing and watching her Blue Jay’s and
Maple Leafs. She was a challenging opponent in golf, shuffleboard and various card and table games. For many years she served on the board, and as president of the Hometown Homeowners Association in
Wasaga Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lorne Childs, children: Lorne Childs Jr. (Carol),
Sherryl Chapman (Douglas) and Ken Childs (Tracy), grandchildren: Lindsay, Dillon, Brendan and Trevor,
great grandchildren Amelia and Hunter, sister Doreen Marshall (nee Elliott) and pre-deceased by her
brother Randy.
She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Friends are invited to join Grace’s family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home –
Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach for a Celebration of Life on
Saturday May 28, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.. Light refreshments will be served.
