Obituary for Frederick "Fred" Thomas Duggan

DUGGAN, FREDERICK THOMAS

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Campbell House, Hospice Georgian Triangle, Collingwood, after a long fought courageous battle with cancer.
Fred, the son of the late Howard and Leona Duggan, was born March 21st, 1951, and grew up on the farm with the long lane on the 4th line of Nottawasaga near Creemore. He attended Bayview School at the top of the hill, Stayner Collegiate after the family moved to town and attained his degree in Business at Waterloo Lutheran University. Fred also obtained his Masters of Public Administration from Carleton University. After raising his family in Aurora, in his later years, he moved home to Stayner.
He leaves behind his children Patrick and his partner Kate of Victoria , Jane of Aurora, and Campbell of Aurora. He will be missed by his siblings Elinore and the late Dick Van der Vechte, Shirley and John Cook, Donna and Maurice Lanthier, Bob Duggan and Doris and Barrie Vickers. Uncle Fred will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families, for his hearty laugh and also by his many cousins from the Duggan and O’Reilly clans. He will also be missed by his best friend Paul Bellamy who, from high school on, was always there for him.
For the care that he received, acknowledgement is sent to St. Elizabeth Homecare, his neighbours on Sunnidale Street, Staff at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, Doctor Recoskie and Doctor Ray and in his last weeks, the incredible nurses and caregivers at Campbell House who through their compassionate care made his final stretch happy and comfortable.
A private family service will be held at Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, Stayner. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Campbell House, Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation, would be welcomed. To sign his Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
It should be noted that Fred was a true blue Leafs fan and the ongoing wager between him and Moe brought him much joy. Go Leafs Go!!!
To all who knew Fred, he bids us a final “Ciao”.
