Passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 70. Dexter of Stayner, beloved husband of Betty Ann Barnes. Loving father of Linda (Greg Jonkman) and Richard. Dear Grandpa of Riley Watters. Brother of Brenda McSorley (Pat), Linda McCausland and Kevin Watters. Dexter will also be missed by his mother-in-law Patricia Barnes and family, nieces Nicole Hunter (Adam), Lisa Santa, Cindy Dougherty, Catherine Watters and nephews Geoffrey Stone, Sean McSorley, Connor Watters and great-niece Hayden. He is predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Nelson Watters. Dexter enjoyed a long career as a Registered Nurse spending 27 years at Sunset Manor where his great sense of humour was always appreciated. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26 on Thursday August 15, 2019 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 16, 2019 at Jubilee Presbyterian Church, 7320 Highway 26, Stayner at 2 o'clock. Reception to follow. Dexter’s family is grateful for the tremendous support of many people during his journey. Special thanks to his medical team Doctors Lewin, Russell, Nay and Yoon as well as the many nurses and staff for their compassionate care. If desired, donations may be made to the Collingwood G&M Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Jubilee Presbyterian Church in Dexter’s memory.
