Westcarr, Daphne Audrey (nee Robinson)
Died peacefully at home with family by her side on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the age of 91.
Daphne Westcarr of Wasaga Beach was born in Manchester, Jamaica and moved to the UK in her late 20s, which started her love of travel and adventure. While there, she met John Westcarr. They married and moved to Canada in the late 1960s, where together they raised their three daughters in Hamilton until John’s death when the girls were young.
Daphne, a Registered Practical Nurse, spent over 25 years developing her career at St. Joseph Healthcare Hamilton. Those who knew Daphne remember her as a strong, hardworking and compassionate caregiver, with a great sense of humour. Daphne’s nursing background and caring nature were evident in how she interacted with all those around her, but especially with her special needs daughter Audrey, whom she lovingly cared for until the age of 86, when she physically could no longer do so.
Daphne was the loving mother of Sheryll (Gary), Babbette (Steve) and Audrey, as well as the cherished grandmother of Erik Howey and Kayla Brown. She will be greatly missed by her fur babies and fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 10am until the time of the funeral service in the chapel at 11am. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person. https://youtu.be/RYFFm-RpuOc Following the service, the family will then travel to Hamilton for the graveside service at Eastlawn Cemetery, 2280 Barton Street East at 3pm, welcoming family and friends to attend in person. Daphne will be laid to rest with her husband John.
