The Lord took home our beloved husband and father on Monday June 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie at the age of 88. Hendrik of Edenvale, beloved husband of Gertie for over 60 years. Loving father of Frances and her husband Chris Cartier. Cherished grandfather of Teresa, Betty Ann and Nicole (Matthew Fairley). Hendrik is survived by brother Bill (Janis) and sister Carrie Ploeg. He is predeceased by Rose Verschuur, Willie Schaly, Henny Schaly, George Nyhof and John Nyhof. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and his friends and neighbours. Hendrik was a longtime farmer in Edenvale. He will be remembered for his peaceful disposition and his love for the land and his animals. Friends will be received at the Jubilee Presbyterian Church, 7308 Highway 26, Stayner on Saturday July 6, 2019 for visitation at 10 a.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 11 o’clock.
